I love Aki7. I don't know why it doesn't have 5 starts. I did one time have a debacle with a staff member who didn't understand that I wanted no straw so she gave me 2 and I was like god DAMMIt Janet I'm trying to save the turtles here and then I had to keep the 2 straws in my purse forever and. Anyway. It's good sushi and good service and they deserve 5 f ing stars god dammit. Even if they didn't understand me. Like, English barriers are hard but America is a mixing pot and that's what makes it so great, right ? And if u don't agree we'll get the heck off my Yelp buddy because I'm trying to coexist with my fellow humans like we're all just in one big happy soup! Dammit

Wanted to give this place a shot since it's so close and it seems like it's been around for a while. To be honest, I don't know how they're still around. Now granted, I did only order sushi, but it does say sushi underneath their sign outside. So here goes my review.
First off, this place is an "Asian Fusion" restaurant. I really do have a dislike for these "Asian Fusion" places because most of the time, the food is never good since there's no focus or direction for the the food. This establishment has Chinese, Japanese hibachi, and sushi on their menu. The hubby and I ordered a few rolls, and I really can't remember much about them. Most of their sushi is cooked and deep fried in thick batter. I understand some people can't eat raw fish and I do enjoy an occasional deep fried roll, but the rolls here were almost inedible. They were greasy, the batter was too thick, and the rolls weren't crispy at all. The tempura served in some of the rolls were made with the same thick batter used to coat the sushi rolls instead of actual tempura batter.
The only redeeming factor was that their servers were really earnest and made sure we had everything that we needed. Our water glasses were never empty and it didn't take too much effort to flag someone down.
Maybe I should have ordered their Chinese food or stuff off their grill. But it really is disappointing to see "sushi" featured on their sign and to have been served the sad pieces of fish we got. -

I wasn't impressed with place at all. The service was ok, but the booths were hard and uncomfortable. The food came out quickly, but was underwhelming at best.
We ordered three sushi rolls and they all tasted funky. The egg rolls were my favorite part. That's how bad it was.
I don't recommend this place at all. -

I visited Aki for a quick dinner to avoid traffic. The food was good and the service was great. The waiter was attentive and very polite.
I ordered the following:
- Shrimp Tempura Roll
- Shrimp Hibachi
- Miso Soup
- Salad
I ordered white rice but they gave me fried rice. I ate it anyway because I like fried rice. The waiter realized the error after I devoured it and apologized for the mistake. He then gave me a free dessert. That was really nice.
I would recommend this restaurant.
